Take your fire skills to the next level with this advanced traditional fire class. This class will cover how to make a bow drill kit out of materials harvested from the land and crafted with stone tools. On the first day, students will collect materials for their fire kit, bow, and cord and will begin work on their cordage. On the second day, students will finish making their bow string, and learn the fundamentals of flint knapping to make usable blades to carve their kit. No experience necessary, but if you have taken a fire class or cordage class, this will make it easier for you. Please bring leather gloves, sunglasses, and a camp chair for the second day. Long pants and closed toe shoes are recommended while making stone tools. The instructor will provide knapping tools and obsidian, though students are welcome to work with locally available stone.
